'Spice Zee' nectaplum® is the first such creation:  a juicy, spicy-sweet, white flesh nectarine with strong plum zingy flavors.  Unparalleled in flavor, it is the winner of many taste tests, with both nectarine and plum traits.  Freestone.  Ripens mid-July.

Skin is dark maroon red when the fruit first forms, and lightens to a pale pink when ripe.  Fruit production is heavy and fairly consistent from year to year.

Spice Zee are very showy trees:  new foliage is a crimson cranberry red which turns to a dark lush green about 4-6 weeks later.  Trees continue to present with new red foliage all summer long.  Growth habit is more like a nectarine than a plum.  Leaves look like typical nectarine leaves.

Pale pink to white blossoms contrast against the crimson foliage in the early spring.  At only 200 chill hours, Spice Zee is also one of the first of the nectarine types to begin flowering in the spring.  Can also adapt to higher chill hour environments.

Self fertile:  no need for a pollinator.  Very productive.  Will also cross pollinate with other nectarines and Japanese type plums in the 200-300 chill hour range.
